You may be wondering: Who is Susan Horner? Why is there an Award with her name on it?
Born and raised in Quebec, a graduate of the Music Conservatory at McGill University, Susan made many life-long friends there and throughout her life. She moved to Mississauga in 1980, blessing us all with her passion and dedication to the church, the arts and her community.
Susan’s passions were her family, music and theatre. Whether singing, playing the piano, acting or volunteering her time, Susan showed her deep love for her community in everything she did. This was further demonstrated by her pivotal roles as a founding member of Meadowvale Music Theatre (MMT) and as an advocate for the building of Meadowvale Theatre. She was a Board Director for Music Theatre Mississauga and MMT for many years and mentored many along her way. |

Susan’s last community theatre performance delighted audiences as Golda in MMT’s Fiddler on the Roof of the 2000-2001 Encore Series. Susan continued producing, directing and mentoring her successors for a few more years in order to move on to a new stage of life filled with travel, family, friends and leisure.
Susan was a force to be reckoned with. She was passionate about her theatre and passionate to those that were involved with theatre. She was always an inspirational, supportive and caring member of any show that she was a part of. She lived her life with love, passion and humour. We will miss her dearly.
We honour Susan’s name and memory with this Award. The names listed below have been voted on by the cast members of each show every season, the results reflect the supportiveness and inspiration that Susan showed all the time.
Thank you to The Meadowvale Theatre Advisory Board who has graciously sponsored this Award for the 2009/2010 Season. |
